Create a palette

Press space (or Generate) for a new palette. Lock the colors you want to keep and the rest changes around them, following the harmony rule and the look you choose. Every palette is checked as you go: the best text pair, color blindness and print. Tap a color to copy it and make it your foreground; long-press (or right-click) it for your background. How it worksrules, looks and locks

Generate picks a starting hue, places the other colors with the harmony rule (the same rules as the Harmony wheel), and gives them the lightness and chroma of the look, in OKLCH so the steps look even. It tries hundreds of candidates and keeps one where no two colors are too close (ΔE00) and the lightest and darkest still contrast. About one in three is "UI-ready": an off-white, accents and a dark, so there is always a strong text pair.

Locks keep a color where it is. The next palette is built around the locked colors: its starting hue comes from one of them, and the generated color closest to each locked one is dropped, so the new colors fit with what you kept.

Click a hex to copy it (and make it your foreground). The pencil opens the Color Picker for that color; the two-squares button puts your current foreground color there (the front chip at the top right). Drag the grip to reorder. Back and Forward (← →) step through everything you made in this visit, and the address always holds the current colors, so a link opens exactly this palette.
